So what have the above quotes got to do with Property Investment in Cape Town.  Again, my answer will have to be everything and nothing!

Property is merely the commodity we trade in, but our business is people.  People make the world go round.  All our deals are done with people.

I have met some wonderful people, and what we all have in common is that we have feelings, integrity and honour.  Whether we listen to our conscience or not, is entirely something else.

But life has a funny way of giving to us what we give out to others.

So, endeavour with all our dealings, to always transact in an honourable manner and with having everyone’s good as our ultimate goal.

With every transaction I endeavour to make the buyers, sellers and myself happy.  I do not believe in sacrificing the one for the other.

We, estate agents or property brokers, have the right to make a decent living, but never at other people’s expense.  The same must be said for both buyers and sellers.  We cannot encourage sellers to charge inflated prices for properties, nor encourage buyers to pay too little for a property.  We have to strive to maintain a balance.

So when we have setbacks, don’t try to do something that is in opposition to your morals, remember these words quoted above – “you don’t have to get it perfect, you just have to get it going, babies don’t walk the first time they try, but eventually they do”.

Eventually we will achieve our goals, but never at the expense of someone else.

So take the good with the bad.  We are blessed in the Cape Town Property market to have the wonderful property investment opportunities we have, and we are blessed that Cape Town is the most beautiful city in the world (My opinion) and that we are fortunate to call it home.

Success is often much like encountering a series of doors, each door representing an opportunity. One door leads to another in the expanse of your lifetime. If you fail to recognize the various doors that appear in your lifetime, or hesitate in opening them and walking through them, your life will turn out differently. The problem for too many of us is that instead of opening the Doors of Opportunity that present themselves to us – we live in our dreams. All of us have hidden fantasies – little dreams that linger in the back of our minds, where we are the center of a perfect world. But few of us are actually living our dream. In fact, for probably 95% of us, our dreams are our own worst enemy -because most of us don't move beyond the fantasy stage of their dream world.

Instead, we wait for our dreams to "happen" to us. We don't integrate the reality of achieving our dreams, to the hard realityof everyday living. We "compartmentalize" the dream as some kind if separate "cosmic entity" that will happen if we simply think about it enough – while doing nothing in our everyday lives to pave the way for our dreams to have even the barest chance of becoming apart of the reality.

Unfortunately, we waste our most valuable resource, depleting our precious Time focusing on the dream itself, instead of focusing on making the dream happen.
So what makes the difference as to whether one succeeds or fails in the Cape Town Property Investment business, or any other business for that matter?
Ultimately, for most folks, it is more than anything else, learning how to get the most out their most valuable resource – their Time! Grand Dame Roberta Standen offers a sensible observation based on her experience, "It is fair to say that we all basically have the same opportunities afforded to us. Obviously, the true cost of taking the time to do the things we have to do in the Cape Town Property Investment business to be successful – is the giving up f the other alternatives we have available to choose from, i.e.what else we could have otherwise done with our time. We also have to decide how to get the most value out of that time.

that it offers us a lot of flexibility to maneuver within choosing how we will participate in it.

It offers us a lot of room in terms of how we want to grow our wealth. And, it offers us a lot of room in choosing how we want to approach the things we want to do with it.

Unfortunately though, it does not offer us freedom from making the choices we each have to make individually. That part of the equation has to come from within ourselves. I can't tell you where your own Doors of Opportunity are located. But I can say with certainty that they exist. May you recognizethem for the wondrous gifts they are, and walk through those doors into the success that awaits you.

All work and no play…. Yes, I've heard this said all the time. But remember that poem about lifestyle.
