You access your true Strength in Valleys not in Peaks
December 6, 2007 at 1:06 pm | In Preparing to Buy Property | 2 CommentsPaying South African citizen’s resilience and strength is being severely tested in this ‘new’ South Africa.
I would like to paint a hypothetical scenario of what life is like in South Africa at this moment.
It is like a boat that is battling to get to its destination because we have a full boat of say 250 people and only 50 people are rowing (paying for services & taxes). And to keep moving forward more and more is expected of the 50 tired rowing people. Instead of the captain insisting that the other 200 non-rowing people start assisting with the rowing, he lashes out at the 50 rowers and asks them to row faster and harder( pay higher and higher price for services & taxes).
Eventually, the 50 rowers either die of exhaustion (go bankrupt) or jump overboard (emigrate). And the ship stays on one spot and eventually rots and sinks, because the 200 non-rowers did not have the integrity to start rowing and contributing their share. And the captain did not have the character to insist that the 200 non-rowers do the right thing.
Is this where South Africa is headed?
I hope not, it is our duty to all start rowing.
We need to uplift ourselves and when we uplift ourselves, our communities get uplifted and thus our country improves.
Owning one’s own property is undeniably the one way via which one can uplift oneself almost immediately.

Tough Times with the new NCA and Interest rates hikess
October 16, 2007 at 10:47 am | In Preparing to Buy Property | Leave a CommentWe make them cry who cares for us,
We cry for those who never care for us
And we care for those who will never cry for us
Thought I would start with this quote as we South Africans are currently being assaulted by high prices. Due to the interest rate increases many families are going through challenging times.
Families have to be united and work along with one another to get through this time.
Nothing worthwhile comes easy.
I recently met a husband and wife who is about 70 years old. They never bought their own home, so now in their old age they have to move from one property to another because they cannot keep up with the current rentals being charged.
In their youth they chose the easy route and never sacrificed in order to own their own home. Now in their old age they are paying for this decision.
Don’t be like them.
We have many affordable homes for sale in Cape Town. In Eerstriver we have houses for sale from R299 000. Call us on 082 7706808 for affordable homes in Eerste River.
In beautiful Strand we have 3 bedroomed units (80m2) starting from R500 000. This is really a good opportunity. Call us on 082 7706808 for Flats for Sale in Strand.
For those who love the Southern Suburbs we have a lovely 2 bedroomed flat in Kenilworth with fitted kitchen for an unbelievable R550 000. Similar apartments in this convenient area sell for about R700 000. The only downside is that there is no parking but I don’t think it is a good thing to pay R150 000 for a parking bay, do you? Call us on 082 7706808 for flat for sale in Kenilworth.
I also have a lovely 2 bedroomed semi-detached cottage in quaint Salt River for R550 000. This is really a good buy as similar houses in Salt River sell for R650 000. Call us on 082 7706808 for Houses for sale in Salt River, Salt River is an up and coming area and is seeing an unprecedented upliftment due to the expansion of the CBD.
For the smaller family or investor, Wynberg has always been a popular area. We have a 2 bedroomed semi with a separate granny cottage for an unbelievable R650 000. You cannot go wrong in this area. We also have a 2 bedroomed cottage for sale in Wynberg for R620 000. Call us on 082 7706808 for Houses for sale in Wynberg.
And for those of us who love Mitchell’s Plain, Colorado Park has always been a sought after area. We have a 3 bedroomed house with fitted kitchen and garage for Sale for R545000. Call us on 082 7706808 for Houses for Sale in Mitchell’s Plain.

A Tribute to My Brother Colin Braaf
May 7, 2007 at 12:33 pm | In Preparing to Buy Property | Leave a CommentA great man died just over a week ago. His name was Colin Braaf, he was my brother.
My previous blog referred to great men who live amongst us now. At that time, I must admit, I did not think of Colin as a great man.
But since his death my eyes opened! I see life in a completely different manner. Lots of things that were important suddenly, don’t seem to matter so much and things I took for granted has gained more meaning in my life.
Colin had problems with reading, writing and comprehension. We thought that these challenges were disabilities for him.
We did not realize the fantastic blessing God had bestowed on him! Cause God gave Colin a golden heart. Yes, his heart was pure gold! Even though Colin was 43 years old, Colin never really grew beyond the innocence of a child. He was a simple person.
But he was such an amazing person, though everything he did in life required superior effort from him.
Colin had his own home, his own, car, he had a job and he had a little girl whom he raised alone. She is now 5 years old, he had her baptised, she was enrolled at nursery school and her life was good and stable.
Colin had a very challenging life. He lost his mother at 11, his father had a drinking problem and Colin, with his challenges, was left at the mercy of his uncle & aunt to raise him and assist him in life.
His sisters and brother were themselves too young to care for Colin.
He never finished high school because he couldn’t, but through his diligence and hard work, lived as normal a life as anyone else.
Colin lived alone and every neighbour helped and did something different for him. And in turn Colin helped them wherever he could.
His funeral was a tribute to his life because through his death his siblings and their family finally put their differences aside and took the first few baby steps towards healing the wounds that were inflicted so many years ago and that almost crippled their entire families emotionally for so many years.
Colin, just one regret I have today…. I never got to say Good bye or that I love you my Brother, Colin Braaf
From
your sisters and brother Cecil………
Holy Week
April 2, 2007 at 8:33 am | In Preparing to Buy Property | Leave a CommentI have not written in quite a while, in fact it’s been more than a month since my last post.
It is the illness of our time, although everything seems to be faster with email, airtravel, etc., we now seem to have less time than ever before!
But it’s making the time for the little things that’s important. Our success in life depends on time, and what we do with it.
I’ve been investing a lot of time in my spiritual growth, a part of my life which I have neglected for a long time and that I am now giving the prominence in my life that it deserves.
I am trying to focus on areas that will help me improve spiritually, and it is so amazing that, while I am improving myself, I’m also improving the world. I’m trying to improve the world with my love, my patience, my goodness, my patience, my compassion, my self-control, my inner peace and my joy. Because when I do this I make this world a better place!
It is important to realize that we are in the business of people and that property is merely the commodity. This is not to say that I do not get my fair share of challenges, but I must realize I cannot make everybody happy all of the time. There will always be people who are dissatisfied with something or another. But the question we as Property Brokers and Property Developers must ask ourselves is ‘Where we ever dishonest and did we set out to deceive people? And this answer is what we need to base our lives on.
We are mere mortals and everything has a degree of subjectivity to it.
So when you deal with people in the property market, deal with people whom you believe are moral and honest and please remember that you too must be moral and honest.
For as the saying goes, ‘Buyers are liars and Sellers are worse’ and the agents get the blame.
Until next time have a Holy Week and remember the bigger picture, we are from the world but not of the world.
Go in Peace.
Love
Yasmeen

2007 Here we come, are you ready for us?
January 17, 2007 at 5:06 pm | In Preparing to Buy Property, Property Development Opportunities | Leave a CommentI’ve thought long and hard about my New Year’s Resolutions and I’ve come to the following conclusions.
Nobody’s life is complete without a code of ethics. That what you think and how you think, does influence and affect your health, your life and your faith.
Everything in life is created twice, first in the mind and then in action. Our goals / plans are just the rehearsal. Our action is the performance / play.
A quiet, calm and happy mind and a mind that is serene and under your control is what is essential to success in all spheres of our lives.
These are the rules whereby which I would like to live by in 2007, come join me:
1. Do not destroy or injure anything 2. Be truthful 3. Do not steal 4. Do not desire other people’s possessions 5. Practise self-control and moderation in food, drink & sex
So therefore I endeavour to:
1. Keep myself clean internally and externally 2. Be contented 3. Practise self-discipline, tolerance, patience and mental calmness 4. Educate myself 5. Try to surrender my mind and self to the Higher Power, whilst sharing my good fortune with others.
So let’s live one moment at a time. How oftern do we wish for another chance, to make a new beginning. It does not take a new day to make a new start, it only takes a deep desire to try with all our heart.
This very moment is a seed from which the flowers of tomorrow’s happiness grows.
So lets finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders no doubt crept in, forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day, you shall begin it well and serenely. “Ralph Waldo Emerson”
So lets walk together and embrace the good and positive in this world.
